Join us for a discussion of Temple Grandin's book, Developing Talents: Careers for Individuals with Asperger Syndrome and High-Functioning Autism. In this book, Dr. Grandin provides a strengths-based, step-by-step game plan for what you should do right now to prepare your middle-schooler or high-schooler to enter the work force as an employee or entrepreneur.

Dr. Grandin encourages parents to support their ASD child's interests and skills from an early age. She also supports early development of transferable skills and personal responsibility through chores, volunteering, and paid work. She explains how all of these can be used to forge a path towards independence, employment/entrepreneurship, purposeful career exploration, and greater social integration even before graduation.

xMinds invites all parents to come and discuss Temple Grandin's strategies and advice. Some of Dr. Grandin's most important recommendations can be applied and/or adapted for children across the entire autism spectrum. Because they can be used to improve the quality of life for any child in meaningful ways, we encourage everyone to attend.

Come to learn and to share your own ideas for leveraging your child's relative strengths to prepare him or her for the future.

This event is interactive; there will be active participation from attendees.
